Roanoke Rapids is 8-2 against Northern Nash since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Yellowjackets will challenge the Knights at 6:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Roanoke Rapids sitting on 12 straight victories and Northern Nash on four.

While Roanoke Rapids' win against Southern Nash wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Yellowjackets sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Firebirds on Tuesday. Given Roanoke Rapids' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while Southern Nash are ranked 210th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Casey Neal and Avery Qualls scored all three of Roanoke Rapids' goals, bringing their combined season tally to 45 goals.

Meanwhile, Northern Nash kept a clean sheet against Rocky Mount last Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Gryphons with a sharp 7-0 win. Northern Nash might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by three goals or more this season.

Northern Nash's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 22 goals over those three contests. As for Roanoke Rapids, their victory bumped their record up to 12-0.

Roanoke Rapids was able to grind out a solid win over Northern Nash when the teams last played back in March, winning 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Yellowjackets since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
