Recap: Calvary Chapel Academy vs. Avon Panthers
Calvary Chapel Academy won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Avon on the road and fell 69-34. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Calvary Chapel Academy has scored all season.
Leading Avon to victory were Josiah Guerrier and Thomas Edwards. Guerrier dropped a double-double on 16 points and 22 rebounds, while Edwards shot 8-for-14 from long range and almost dropped a double-double on 32 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Edwards has scored all season. Thomas Irby was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with 17 rebounds and two steals.
Calvary Chapel Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Avon, their win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-2.
Calvary Chapel Academy will head out on the road to challenge Hull at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Avon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Westport at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Avon is facing Westport at the right time seeing as Westport is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
