Softball Game Preview: Piedmont Panthers vs. Forest Hills Yellow Jackets

Piedmont is a perfect 5-0 against Forest Hills since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Piedmont will be playing in front of their home fans against Forest Hills at 5:30 p.m. Piedmont will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Piedmont gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 6-2 win over Hickory Ridge. The game was the first time the Panthers have beaten the Ragin' Bulls on their field since February 28, 2019.

Jailyn Thomas was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.

Thomas wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ashlyn Pressley, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Reagan Loving was another, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Forest Hills came up short against Charlotte Country Day School on Wednesday, falling 11-1. The loss continues a trend for the Yellow Jackets in their meetings with the Buccaneers: they've now lost four in a row.

Forest Hills' defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Piedmont, their victory bumped their record up to 10-4.

Piedmont took their win against Forest Hills in their previous matchup on March 6th by a conclusive 23-0. Will Piedmont repeat their success, or does Forest Hills has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
