Basketball Recap: Splendora Comes Up Short

Splendora was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 49-47 heartbreaker at the hands of the Porter Spartans. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 50-43 on January 3rd.

When it comes to explaining why Splendora lost, don't look at Jaydn McNeely. Despite the final result, he posted 12 points along with seven boards and seven blocks. The dominant performance gave McNeely a new career-high in blocks. Another player making a difference was Peyton Whaley, who scored seven points and six rebounds.

Splendora's defeat dropped their record down to 12-17. As for Porter, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-17.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Kingwood Park the next time they take the court. Porter will head out to face Kingwood Park at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Splendora will host them at 7:00 p.m. on February 4th.
