Baseball Recap: Palo Verde Comes Up Short

Palo Verde and Faith Lutheran squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Palo Verde had to settle for second. They came up short against the Crusaders, falling 10-3. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Crusaders earlier this season, when they won 9-6.

Jace Jefferies made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Palo Verde's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 22-9. As for Faith Lutheran, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-14 record this season.

Palo Verde and Faith Lutheran are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Panthers will face off against Bishop Gorman at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Palo Verde's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Gaels have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Faith Lutheran, they will take on Basic at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wolves will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Crusaders surely won't give up without a fight.
