Baseball Recap: Lancaster Snaps Six-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Lancaster lost to DeSoto back in February of 2021, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Tigers never let the Eagles get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. Considering the Tigers' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Leo Leiva was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Lancaster is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-13 otherwise. Leiva was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Nathan Ortega was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Joseph Foster, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Lancaster kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as DeSoto only managed two hits.

Lancaster's win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-13. As for DeSoto, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-15.

Lancaster will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Eagles: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
