Softball Game Preview: Galesburg Silver Streaks vs. Rock Island Rocks

Galesburg is 0-10 against Rock Island since May of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Silver Streaks will be playing at home against the Rocks at 4:30 p.m.

Galesburg is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 36th straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They lost 10-0 to Alleman.

Galesburg saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Avayah Bridgewater, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Meanwhile, Rock Island owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over Kewanee. Considering the Rocks have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on A'Rion Lonergan, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-3. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mallory Hudnall, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Rock Island lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Rock Island has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Galesburg, their loss dropped their record down to 0-31.
