Baseball Preview: Northview Knights vs. South Putnam Eagles

Northview is 9-1 against South Putnam since May of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Northview Knights will head out on the road to face off against the South Putnam Eagles at 5:30 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Northview gave up the first runs last Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Plainfield and snuck past 6-5.

Peyton Esker looked comfortable as he pitched an inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Cam Green was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Peyton Lear was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, South Putnam came into Friday's contest having lost ten straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Owen Valley 9-7. South Putnam's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Eli Owens and Wyatt Mullin did most of the damage at the plate: Owens scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances, while Mullin went 3-for-3 with two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Tincher, who scored a run while going 1-for-5.
