Softball Game Preview: Unity Christian Crusaders vs. Vicksburg Bulldogs

The Unity Christian Crusaders will venture away from home to square off against the Vicksburg Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Tuesday, Unity Christian made easy work of Zeeland West and carried off an 8-2 win.

Meanwhile, Vicksburg waltzed into their match on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 15-5 victory. That's two games straight that the Bulldogs have won by exactly ten runs.

Kylynn Schroeder was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles. Lena Lancaster was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Vicksburg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .613. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .357 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Vicksburg pushed their record up to 10-2 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Unity Christian, their record now sits at 6-1.

Unity Christian suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Vicksburg in their previous matchup back in June of 2024. Can the Crusaders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
