Basketball Recap: Shaw Sets Scoring Season-High Against Garfield Heights

Shaw was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 15th straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 53-44 to the Garfield Heights Bulldogs. One positive for the Cardinals, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Shaw's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kyra Smith-Goard, who posted 12 points, and Serenity Kent-Cox, who had 13 points. Those 13 points gave Kent-Cox a new career-high.

Shaw's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Garfield Heights, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Shaw Cardinals face off against the St. Martin de Porres Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Shaw is facing St. Martin de Porres at the right time seeing as St. Martin de Porres is stuck on a five-game losing streak. Garfield Heights will take on Ravenna in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
