Baseball Game Preview: Powell County Pirates vs. Breathitt County Bobcats

For the second straight game, Powell County will face off against Breathitt County. The Pirates will be playing at home against the Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Powell County fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Breathitt County on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bobcats by a score of 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Pirates have suffered since April 2nd.

Levi Wells made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Powell County is 2-1 when Wells posts two or more stolen bases, but 5-14 otherwise. Drew Miller was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

The win (which was Breathitt County's fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Powell County, their loss dropped their record down to 7-15.
