Soccer Game Preview: North Muskegon vs. Elk Rapids

The North Muskegon Norsemen will head out on the road to face off against the Elk Rapids Elks at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Wednesday, North Muskegon beat Montague 3-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for North Muskegon.

Meanwhile, Elk Rapids came tearing into Thursday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.3 goals), and they left with even more momentum. Their defense stepped up to hand the Chiefs a 6-0 shutout. Elk Rapids might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by five goals or more this season.

Elk Rapids pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 22 goals over those four games. As for North Muskegon, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

North Muskegon came up short against Elk Rapids in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, falling 3-1. Can the Norsemen avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
