Meade County won the last time they faced Marion County and things went their way on Friday too. The Green Waves came out on top against the Knights by a score of 6-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Green Waves.
Meade County got a great performance from Jeffrey Johnson as he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Johnson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Grayson Rhodes was incredible, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. John Honaker also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Meade County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marion County only managed four hits.
Meade County's record now sits at 18-8. As for Marion County, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-17.
Coming up, Meade County is taking a road trip to take on Taylor County at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Cardinals' pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so the Green Waves' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Marion County, they will welcome Bethlehem at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
