Softball Recap: Waverly Comes Up Short

Waverly lost against Portsmouth back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Waverly came up short against Portsmouth, falling 13-7.

Waverly saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lexi Smith, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Another was Addi Hudnell, who scored a run while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Waverly's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Portsmouth, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Coming up, Waverly will be playing in front of their home fans against Zane Trace at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Waverly is facing Zane Trace at the right time seeing as Zane Trace is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Portsmouth, they will challenge Ironton at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The game will give Portsmouth their first taste of in-conference action this season.
