Recap: Monsignor Pace Spartans vs. Dr. Krop Lightning
The Monsignor Pace Spartans suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. Their tough 68-46 defeat to Dr. Krop might stick with them for a while. Monsignor Pace was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Dr. Krop apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Despite the defeat, Monsignor Pace saw an underclassman step up: Easton Gelin dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gelin has scored all season. Justin Bridges was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Even though they lost, Monsignor Pace smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Dr. Krop got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Joseph Washington out in front who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 11 rebounds. Washington is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games he's played. Another player making a difference was Emmanuel Ferguson, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds.
Monsignor Pace has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record this season. As for Dr. Krop, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.
Monsignor Pace won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against McArthur at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th. As for Dr. Krop, they will be playing in front of their home fans against American at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. American has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last five games.
