Michel Gayosso Drops League-Best Performance on Friday

Starting off the list is Cherokee's Michel Gayosso, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Gayosso picked up 37 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Cherokee dropped their record down to 3-3 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. Gayosso and Cherokee will face off against Andrews at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Luke Smith Delivers Best Performance of Season

On Friday, Cherokee had to settle for second even though Luke Smith put up the best numbers he has all season. Smith picked up a sack, forced a fumble, and made seven total tackles.

Swain County was sadly handed a defeat on Friday, but Drew Scaggs did his best to prevent it. Scaggs made a major impact, picking up 1.5 sacks and making nine total tackles (2.5 for loss). Thanks to that strong showing, he's now averaging 5.6 total tackles per game.

Swain County is on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5. Scaggs and Swain County will be playing in front of their home fans against Hayesville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Jerry Cable Makes Top Five

Rounding off our Top Five is Jerry Cable of Andrews. Cable wasn't messing around on Friday, making 15 total tackles. The game was his sixth straight with five or more total tackles dating back to last season.

For the year, Cable has averaged 10.2 total tackles per game. He is looking even better than he did last year: after five games last season, he was only averaging 1.6 total tackles per game.
