Baseball Recap: Newman International Academy Takes a Loss

Waco Christian hit Newman International Academy with a four-run fourth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. Newman International Academy took a 12-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Waco Christian. Newman International Academy was not able to repeat the success they had when they faced Waco Christian earlier this season, when they won 21-3.

Noah Palmer and Israel Lopez stepped up to the plate in a big way. Palmer went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double, while Lopez went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Palmer is becoming a predictor of Newman International Academy's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 4-1 (and 2-5-2 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Isai Aguilar, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.

Newman International Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6-2. As for Waco Christian, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-1.

Looking ahead, Newman International Academy will take on International Leadership of Texas Keller at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed ten runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of. Waco Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
