Baseball Recap: Indian Creek Comes Up Short

Indian Creek had lost eight straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 0-17 to make it nine. They came up short against the Earlville Red Raiders, falling 18-1. Timberwolves fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Red Raiders since on Monday.

Kason Murry was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base. That home run was his first of the season.

As for Earlville, their victory bumped their record up to 4-9. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Earlville's side, Aaden Browder was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out 12 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave Browder a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and five RBI.

In other batting news, Earlville got a massive performance out of Austin Todd, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave Todd a new career-high. Hayden Spoonmore was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with five stolen bases and three runs.

While Indian Creek had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
