Baseball Recap: Steel Valley Takes a Loss

Steel Valley lost against Shady Side Academy back in May of 2018, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Ironmen took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs.

Steel Valley saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jorden Smith, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. Smith is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Immanual Owens also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Steel Valley has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season. As for Shady Side Academy, they moved to 3-11 with that win, which also ended their seven-game losing streak.

While Steel Valley had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
