Football Recap: Healdsburg Comes Up Short

Healdsburg extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 12 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-5. They were outmatched by the San Rafael Bulldogs and fell 56-21. That's two games in a row now that the Greyhounds have lost by exactly 35 points.

Several Greyhounds players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Frank Rea, who rushed for 122 yards on only 12 carries, and also threw for 158 yards and two touchdowns. Hayden Mariani was Rea's top target, picking up 71 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

As for San Rafael, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.7 points over those games.

Lachlan Royston was his usual excellent self, throwing for 218 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.9 yards per attempt. Another big playmaker for San Rafael was Santino Amesa, who returned a punt for a touchdown.

Coming up, Healdsburg will square off against Novato at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for San Rafael, they will face off against Sonoma Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will need to watch out since the Dragons have now posted at least 31 points in their last three games.
