Softball Recap: Miller City Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Miller City can now relate to. They fell just short of the Continental Pirates by a score of 1-0 on Wednesday. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Pirates recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Karlee Gilgenbach spent all 9.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Miller City saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Reichley, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases. Clara Verhoff also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Miller City's loss dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Continental, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.

As of now, neither Miller City nor Continental have any future games scheduled.
