Baseball Recap: Manchester Comes Up Short

After a string of three wins, Manchester's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Somers Spartans by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Red Hawks have suffered since May 2nd.

Dallas Manganello spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Angel Rodriguez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

Manchester's loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Somers, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.

Manchester does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Somers, they will take on Granby Memorial at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
