Softball Preview: Western Wayne Wildcats vs. Honesdale Hornets

Western Wayne is 2-7 against Honesdale since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Wildcats will host the Hornets at 4:15 p.m. Honesdale took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Western Wayne, who comes in off a win.

Western Wayne barely beat Lakeland the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 12-6 margin over the Chiefs on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

Adysen Wargo made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Wargo was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Olivia Black was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Hannah DeStefano was another key player, going 4-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Western Wayne always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lakeland only posted an OBP of .312.

Meanwhile, Honesdale was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They lost 13-0 to Mid Valley.

Western Wayne's victory bumped their record up to 6-10. As for Honesdale, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-16.

Western Wayne couldn't quite get it done against Honesdale in their previous meeting back in April as they fell 6-3. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
