Softball Recap: Westridge Tigers vs. Mayfield Cubs
Westridge extended their losing streak to eight on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 4-10-1 in the process. They lost 14-6 to the Mayfield Cubs. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cubs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.
Marysa Ybarra made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilah Rangel, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases.
As for Mayfield, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-9-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.
On Mayfield's side, Jenna Domingo made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Domingo was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Jaz Johnson was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, five runs, and two stolen bases. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lexy Mason, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
