Volleyball Game Preview: Coventry Oakers vs. North Kingstown Skippers

Coventry is 0-8 against North Kingstown since May of 2021 but things could change on Wednesday. The Oakers will head out to square off against the Skippers at 6:30 p.m.

Coventry is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Chariho, who was ranked ninth at the time (Coventry was ranked 15th). The Oakers lost 3-0 to the Chargers on Monday.

While Coventry ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-18, 25-20.

Meanwhile, North Kingstown strolled into their game on Monday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past East Greenwich 3-0.

One reason for the win was North Kingstown's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-20, 25-14.

North Kingstown's victory was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-0. As for Coventry, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.

Coventry suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to North Kingstown in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Oakers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
