Basketball Recap: Vina's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

Vina can finally bid farewell to their nine-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They took down the Berry Wildcats 49-30. The Red Devils have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Wildcats, too.

Leading Vina to victory were Khylee Brooks and Layla Hester. Brooks dropped a double-double on 17 points and 21 rebounds, while Hester dropped a double-double on ten points and ten assists. Hester has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 26 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Claire McCarley, who posted nine points.

Vina's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-13. As for Berry, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Vina will finish 2024 at home by hosting Tharptown at 12:20 p.m. on December 27th. As for Berry, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Sumiton Christian at 5:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025.
