Baseball Game Preview: IMG Academy Gold Ascenders vs. McKeel Academy Wildcats

The IMG Academy Gold Ascenders will venture away from home to square off against the McKeel Academy Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

IMG Academy Gold proved they can win big on Friday (they won by six) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over Inspiration Academy.

Rondy Bryant tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

At the plate, Kevin Brinkworth was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI. Another player making a difference was David Bullard, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, McKeel Academy entered their tilt with Lake Placid on Tuesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Dragons a 12-0 shutout.

Not much got past Aedan Tompkins, who gave up just four hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Lake Placid off the board.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jorge Cordova, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. Ethan Johnson was another key player, going 1-for-2 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

IMG Academy Gold now has a winning record of 10-9. As for McKeel Academy, their record now sits at 12-6.
