Basketball Recap: Rocky Mountain Skates Past Shoshoni with Ease

A well-balanced attack led Rocky Mountain over Shoshoni in every quarter on their way to victory on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Rocky Mountain Grizzlies blew the Shoshoni Wranglers out of the water with a 53-19 final score. Winning may never get old, but the Grizzlies sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Rocky Mountain's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lauren Bassett, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Bassett a new career-high in blocks (three). Shelby Wambeke was another key player, putting up ten points and four steals.

Rocky Mountain was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Shoshoni only racked up four assists.

Despite the loss, Shoshoni saw an underclassman step up: freshman Mayce Jarvis posted seven points and three steals.

Rocky Mountain's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-5. As for Shoshoni, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.

Rocky Mountain will face off against Hot Springs County at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Hot Springs County will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Rocky Mountain surely won't give up without a fight. As for Shoshoni, they will challenge Greybull at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
