Basketball Recap: Courtney Steinkamp's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Eaton over University

If Eaton was feeling good fresh off their 60-35 takedown of Sterling last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Eaton Reds took a 57-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the University Bulldogs on Wednesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 40-27 back in January.

Several Reds players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Courtney Steinkamp, who went 7-for-16 on her way to 26 points and six rebounds. The match was Steinkamp's fifth in a row with at least 18 points. Delaney Reuter was another key player, putting up 13 points.

University's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Natalie Trujillo, who went 6-for-10 to rack up 14 points and seven boards. Thanks to that strong game, Trujillo now owns an excellent 45.7% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Harding, who went 5-for-9 en route to 13 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.

Eaton's loss dropped their record down to 12-6. As for University, the win keeps them at an undefeated 17-0.

Eaton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 55-31 victory against Weld Central on the 14th. As for University, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-20 win against Sterling on the 14th.
