Softball Game Preview: North Canyon Rattlers vs. North Mustangs

The North Canyon Rattlers will head out to take on the North Mustangs at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. North Canyon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.

Things were looking good for North Canyon after they put the first runs on the board on Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Paradise Valley by a score of 20-19. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (16), the Rattlers still had to take the loss.

Madison Kirby was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 5-for-6. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Hernandez, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Meanwhile, North came up short against Fairfax on Wednesday, falling 20-3. The Mustangs haven't had much luck with the Stampede recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

North Canyon dropped their record down to 1-11 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for North, their loss dropped their record down to 8-11.
