Softball Game Preview: Daniel Lions vs. Belton-Honea Path Bears

The Daniel Lions are taking a road trip to challenge the Belton-Honea Path Bears at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. The last five games Daniel has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Thursday, Daniel didn't have quite enough to beat Berea and fell 7-6. That's two games in a row now that the Lions have lost by just one run.

Bryn Chasteen was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Emily Gooch, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Meanwhile, Belton-Honea Path faced Crescent in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Bears came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 6-1. Winning may never get old, but the Bears sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Belton-Honea Path pushed their record up to 17-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Daniel, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-11.

Daniel suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to Belton-Honea Path when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
