Softball Recap: Lakeside Comes Up Short

Lakeside has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.75 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Thursday. They fell just short of the Ruston Bearcats by a score of 16-15.

Lakeside got a big performance out of Meredith Robinson, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave Robinson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Raleah Harris, who scored three runs while going 1-for-3.

Robinson wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Lakeside kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive games.

Lakeside's defeat dropped their record down to 10-2. As for Ruston, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

When Lakeside and Ruston next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Lakeside will try to stop Cedar Creek's three-game winning streak when they meet at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Lakeside is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season. Meanwhile, Ruston will square off against Alexandria and their three-game winning streak at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
