Baseball Game Preview: Georgetown Day Mighty Hoppers vs. Saint James Saints

The Georgetown Day Mighty Hoppers are taking a road trip to face off against the Saint James Saints at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Saint James took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Georgetown Day, who comes in off a win.

Georgetown Day barely beat Smith Jewish Day School the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Mighty Hoppers blew past the Lions 15-7 on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Mighty Hoppers considering their two-run performance the match before.

Meanwhile, Saint James is ranked highly in their home state and on Thursday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Sidwell Friends. The Saints came up short against the Quakers, falling 10-3. The Saints haven't had much luck with the Quakers recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Saint James saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was John (Jack) Regan, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Georgetown Day has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Saint James, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-11.

Everything went Georgetown Day's way against Saint James when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Georgetown Day made off with a 9-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mighty Hoppers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
