Baseball Game Preview: Philip Barbour Colts vs. South Harrison Hawks

The Philip Barbour Colts will face off against the South Harrison Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Philip Barbour's favor as the squad sits on 11 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while South Harrison has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.

Philip Barbour is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of West Virginia's top teams: Grafton, who was ranked 19th at the time (Philip Barbour was ranked fifth). The Colts were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Bearcats on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Colts in their matchups with the Bearcats: they've now won six in a row.

Grant Harris spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on five hits.

At the plate, Kale Wolfe was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. He also hit a triple, marking his first of the season. Landyn Carpenter was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Meanwhile, South Harrison had just enough and edged out Wahama 5-4 on Saturday. That's two games straight that the Hawks have won by just one run.

South Harrison's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Philip Barbour, their victory bumped their record up to 6-0.

Philip Barbour might still be hurting after the 24-1 loss they got from South Harrison in their previous meeting back in April of 2018. Can the Colts avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
