Volleyball Game Preview: Maloney Spartans vs. Darien Blue Wave

The Maloney Spartans will challenge the Darien Blue Wave at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Maloney is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They came out on top against East Hartford by a score of 3-1. The win continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now won five in a row.

The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-16, 22-25, 25-21.

Meanwhile, Darien faced Stamford in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Blue Wave walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Black Knights.

Darien had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 25-19, 25-22, 28-26.

Maloney's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-2. As for Darien, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.
