Baseball Recap: Centennial Beats Gadsden for Their Fifth Straight Victory

Centennial came tearing into Thursday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Gadsden Panthers with a sharp 16-6 win. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won seven matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Chase Sanchez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Sanchez was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Cole Alons was incredible, going 3-for-5 with two triples, three RBI, and one run. That's the most triples he has posted since back in March. Manny Grajeda was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Centennial pushed their record up to 15-5 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Gadsden, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-14-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Centennial will face off against Organ Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Hawks' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Gadsden, they will take on Mayfield at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Trojans will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight.
