Baseball Recap: East Juniata Takes a Loss

East Juniata extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 26 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-18. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Neumann Regional Academy Knights. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 14-6 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2025.

Kelton Bonnell was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played dating back to last season. Meyer Ramsey was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base.

As for Neumann Regional Academy, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-14. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since March 28th.

On Neumann Regional Academy's side, Avery Taddeo and Kane Meixel made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Taddeo struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Meanwhile, Meixel tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. That's the most strikeouts Taddeo has posted since back in March. At the plate, Taddeo went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI, while Meixel went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kaden White, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Wade Smith also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

As of now, neither East Juniata nor Neumann Regional Academy have any future games scheduled.
