Baseball Recap: Gray's Creek's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Gray's Creek waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They put the hurt on the Oscar Smith Tigers with a sharp 15-4 win. Considering the Bears have won seven contests by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Grayson Hulen and Gunner Sterling did most of the damage at the plate: Hulen went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI, while Sterling scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs Hulen has posted since back in March. Dalton Williams was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: Gray's Creek kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Gray's Creek's record now sits at 12-6. As for Oscar Smith, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.

Looking ahead, Gray's Creek will challenge Terry Sanford at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bears will need to watch out since the Bulldogs have now posted at least ten runs in their last four games. As for Oscar Smith, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Hickory at 5:45 p.m. on the 22nd.
