Basketball Preview: Avon Falcons vs. Prince RVT Falcons
Avon is on a nine-game streak of home losses (dating back to last season), the Falcons a five-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Avon Falcons will take on the Prince RVT Falcons at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Last Monday, Avon suffered a tough 75-53 loss at the hands of the Panthers. While losing is never fun, Avon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while the Panthers are ranked 39th).
Meanwhile, Prince RVT struggled with assists on Friday (the Beavers had 22 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Prince RVT had to suffer through a rough 83-43 loss at the hands of the Beavers. Prince RVT was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-14.
Anthony Hernandez put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored seven points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Nate Baker, who scored 12 points.
Avon's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Prince RVT, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season.
