Basketball Recap: Heritage Christian's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

Heritage Christian played a tough match on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Victory Christian Academy Lions, falling 64-42. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Defenders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 79-61 back in December of 2024.

Heritage Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Andrew Regnerus, who posted eight points and seven boards. Hunter Regnerus was another key player, putting up eight points and five rebounds.

Leading Victory Christian Academy to victory were Carter Herrold and Gavin Whitaker. Herrold went 8 of 9 en route to 19 points in addition to seven boards and three steals, while Whitaker went 8 for 12 on his way to 20 points and seven rebounds. Whitaker is crushing it when it comes to points: he's scored at least 16 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Micah Isensee, who put up ten points.

The defeat snapped Heritage Christian's winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 11-7 record. As for Victory Christian Academy, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2.

Heritage Christian will host Clinton Christian at 2:30 p.m. on February 1st. Heritage Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.1 points per game this season. Victory Christian Academy has already played their next game, a 65-55 loss against La Lumiere Blue on the 25th.
