Soccer Game Preview: Champaign Central vs. Peoria Notre Dame

Champaign Central is 0-9 against Peoria Notre Dame since April of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The Maroons will face off against the Irish at 7:00 p.m. Champaign Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 4.3 goals per game this season.

Champaign Central is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to nine goals on Thursday, they were much more limited against Springfield on Friday. They came up short against the Senators, falling 9-1. While losing is never fun, Champaign Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 117th, while Springfield are ranked 13th).

Champaign Central's goal came courtesy of Rylie Schulze, who's now up to 27 this season.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last contest, Peoria Notre Dame made sure to put some goals up on the board against Rochester on Monday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Rockets a 4-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for Peoria Notre Dame, who have now won 14 matchups by three goals or more so far this season.

Champaign Central's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Peoria Notre Dame, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 19-1-1.

Champaign Central might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Peoria Notre Dame when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Maroons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
