St. Petersburg Catholic had to start their season on the road  on Wednesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They lost  3-0 to the Saint Stephen's Episcopal Falcons. Sadly, the  defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.
 Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-16,  25-19.
 Kaleigh Olson paced St. Petersburg Catholic's offense, picking up eight kills. Olson got some help from  Abigail Parker and her nine assists.  Claire Althoff controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.
 Saint Stephen's Episcopal was led to victory by  Ava Varga and  Sophia Ierulli.  Varga  had 14  digs and two assists, while  Ierulli  hit 62.5% for five  kills and ten  digs, three  blocks,  and two  aces. That's the most  assists  Varga has posted since back in September of 2024.
 Looking ahead, St. Petersburg Catholic will be defending their home court for the first time this season  when they go up against Bell Creek Academy  at 7:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. As for Saint Stephen's Episcopal, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next  contest,  a  3-0  win against Palmetto on the 21st.
