Softball Recap: Bridgman's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

Bridgman dropped their record down to 4-2-1 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Watervliet Panthers by a score of 8-7. The Bees were not able to make up for their defeat to the Panthers from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

As for Watervliet, their victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 14.1 runs this season.

For Watervliet's part, Emma Kirksey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered seven earned runs on nine hits and racked up ten Ks. Kirksey has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Watervliet got a big performance out of Kaylee Bartee, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that Bartee has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Eberhard, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Bridgman beat Watervliet by a score of 12-4 later that day.
