Football Game Preview: Humboldt Cubs vs. West Franklin Falcons

The Humboldt Cubs will take on the West Franklin Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Humboldt will be strutting in after a victory while West Franklin will be coming in after a loss.

Humboldt is returning home triumphant after the team finally put their road woes behind them against Bluestem on Friday. The Cubs put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 28-6 win. The victory continues a trend for the Cubs in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won five in a row.

Mason Sterling was his usual excellent self, rushing for 104 yards and two touchdowns, while also picking up 57 receiving yards and one score. He is becoming a predictor of Humboldt's success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is 2-1 (and 0-3 when he doesn't).

Meanwhile, West Franklin fell victim to Eureka and their airtight defense on Friday. They were beaten by the Tornadoes 44-0.

West Franklin's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Humboldt, the win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-4.

Everything came up roses for Humboldt against West Franklin in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 66-0 victory. Will the Cubs repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
