Softball Recap: Hartsville's Loss Ends 11-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Hartsville couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gray Collegiate Academy War Eagles on Friday.

Carter Shumate and Terriney Thompson stepped up to the plate in a big way. Shumate went 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Thompson went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was Shumate's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Claire Smith, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Hartsville's loss ended an 11-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 22-5. As for Gray Collegiate Academy, their victory was their 34th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 28-2.

As of now, neither Hartsville nor the War Eagles have any future games scheduled.
