Softball Recap: Lutheran Triumphs

While Lutheran's win against Lewis-Palmer wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Lions won by a run and slipped past the Rangers 8-7. The victory continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Rangers: they've now won seven in a row.

Ella Faries made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI.

In other batting news, Briar Golden was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sophia Reed, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Lutheran hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive matchups.

Lutheran's record now sits at 11-4. As for Lewis-Palmer, their defeat was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-13.

Lutheran has already played their next game, a 14-3 win against Cheyenne Mountain on the 19th. As for Lewis-Palmer, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 23-3 loss against Discovery Canyon on the 22nd.
