Softball Recap: Dayton Christian Takes a Loss

Dayton Christian extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 4-8 in the process. They came up short against the Miami East Vikings, falling 20-0. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the WARRIORS haven't been shut out since back in March.

As for Miami East, their victory was their 14th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-3. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won 16 games by six runs or more so far this season.

For Miami East's part, Jacqueline Kadel made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Kadel has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

In other batting news, Jersey Cutlip was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaila Thurman, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Dayton Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Miami East, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 1-0 win against Greenville on the 16th.
