Basketball Game Preview: Houston Hurricanes vs. MFL MarMac Bulldogs

The Houston Hurricanes will square off against the MFL MarMac Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Houston is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. Couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up 2024 than the 85-47 stomp they got against Randolph. The Hurricanes' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Houston's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aubry Boldt led the charge by going 13 for 21 on her way to 26 points and six rebounds. Avery Kingsley was another key player, going 11 of 17 on her way to 25 points.

Meanwhile, MFL MarMac had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three last Friday. They claimed a resounding 70-15 win over the Pirates. That looming 70-15 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Bulldogs yet this season.

MFL MarMac pushed their record up to 5-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.4 points per game. As for Houston, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
