Basketball Game Preview: Norton Bluejays vs. Trego Golden Eagles

Norton is 8-2 against Trego since January of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Bluejays duke it out with the Golden Eagles at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Norton has four straight victories, Trego has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Friday, Norton beat Smith Center 45-34.

It was another big night for Hallie Brooks, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 boards gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Caroline Fahrenbruch, who posted seven points.

Norton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in seven consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Trego played a tough matchup on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Quinter, falling 67-26. The Golden Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-12.

Norton pushed their record up to 8-11 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 20.3 points over those games. As for Trego, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-13.

Norton beat Trego 47-34 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Does Norton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Trego turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
