Baseball Game Preview: Marblehead Magicians vs. Mansfield Hornets

The Marblehead Magicians will head out to face off against the Mansfield Hornets at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. Mansfield took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Marblehead, who comes in off a win.

Marblehead is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Marshfield, sneaking past 4-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Magicians.

Meanwhile, Mansfield unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of Attleboro by a score of 6-5.

Brendan Vokey made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for Mansfield: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 9-10 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of James Warren, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Mansfield's loss dropped their record down to 14-11. As for Marblehead, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Marblehead came up short against Mansfield in their previous meeting back in June of 2022, falling 5-1. Can the Magicians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
